Continuous MPTP intoxication in the Göttingen minipig results in chronic parkinsonian deficits

of the neurotoxin 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP). This is the first Romanian investigation of oral candidosis in patients suffering of HIV-infection or type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).Candida albicans was the dominant species in both types of isolates: n = 14 (46.7%) in T1DM, n = 60 (69.8%) in HIV. Easy method for determining the frequency of O1 and O2 alleles in Brazilian blood donors by PCR-RFLP analysis

-out method. Different genotypes (O1O1, O1O2, O2O2) were identified after digestion with restriction enzymes KpnI, HpaII, and AluI, followed by agarose gel electrophoresis. Of 82 samples analyzed, 74 were O1O1, 7 were O1O2 , and 1 was O2O2. Report on anti-Dib encountered in two Hong Kong Chinese

Two cases of anti-Dib, a rarely encountered antibody, were identified in serum samples referred by hospital blood banks during the past 13 months. Case 1 is a 4l-year-old female who required blood for elective surgery. Case 2 is a premature infant suffering from mild neonatal jaundice on day 2 after birth. Screening for RBC antibodies - what should we expect from antibody detection RBCs

, Kpa, and Wra.There are no data to support the considerable expense and effort involved in providing RBCs that possess low-frequency antigens such as Cw, Kpa, and Wra. PEG adsorption of autoantibodies causes loss of concomitant alloantibody

in twofold adsorption experiments. Saline was substituted for PEG for control purposes. Postadsorption titers and immunoglobulin levels were determined. Autoantibodies were completely removed by both methods (n = 5); better by PEG (n = 3); better by ZZAP (n = 1); and not adsorbed (n = 1), and partially adsorbed by both (n = 1). Seroprevalence of Rubella and Cytomegalia in Young Women from Biała Podlaska District

The aim of this study was to analyze the seroprevalence of rubella and cytomegalia among young women. The study included 175 healthy women from the Biała Podlaska District, aged 16 to 35 years.
