First Report of Carrot Cyst Nematode Heterodera carotae in Mexico: Morphological, Molecular Characterization, and Host Range Study

During 2008 to 2016 in several nematological surveys in the Tepeaca Valley, Puebla, Mexico, carrot cyst nematode, Heterodera carotae was found parasitizing carrots, Daucus carota. The nematode was present in 61% of the sampled fields with high population densities, causing severe carrot yield losses in the Tepeaca Valley. The aim of this work was to study morphology, morphometrics, host range, and molecular characterization of the nematode. The morphological and morphometric characterization

Discopersicus hexagrammatus n. sp. (Rhabditida: Tylenchidae), the second species of the genus

) restudied this species and proposed the new genus Discopersicus, with D. iranicus (Yaghoubi et al., 2016) as its type species. In this study, we describe the second species of the genus based on morphological and molecular characters. Materials and methods Nematode sampling, extracting, mounting and morphological characterization Soil samples were collected from the rhizosphere of carrot (Daucus carota L.) in Dezful, Khuzestan province, southwestern Iran. Nematodes were extracted using the tray method

Organic or conventional production system and nutrient rate affect the nematode community in carrot production

Carrot (Daucus carota spp. sativus) production is an important industry in the United States, planted to 28,207 ha with a total crop value of $716 million (USD) in 2020 (NASS-USDA, 2021). Carrot production in Florida and the Southeast is a relatively small portion of that industry – undisclosed in production reports to protect privacy of individual growers (NASS-USDA, 2021). However, carrot production in the Southeast is growing, in part because it is strategically located near eastern US

Morphological and Molecular Characteristics of Pratylenchus haiduongensis sp. n., a New Species of Root–Lesion Nematodes Associated with Carrot in Vietnam

Abstract: Pratylenchus haiduongensis sp. n. is described as associated with carrot (Daucus carota subsp. sativus (Hoffm.) Sch€ubl. & G. Martens) in Hai Duong Province, Vietnam. P. haiduongensis sp. n. is characterized by the lip region with three annuli and slightly separated from the body. Stylet knobs are rounded (never indented anteriorly). The lateral field includes four incisures, bearing areolation at the pharynx region and tail region and occasionally appears in the vulval
