Enhanced LPG response characteristics of SnO2 thin film based sensors loaded with Pt clusters

RF sputtered SnO2 thin films (90 nm thick) loaded with clusters of nanoscale (8 nm) metal catalysts (Pt, Ag, Ni, Pb, Al, Pd) are investigated for LPG detection. SnO2 film loaded with Pt catalyst clusters exhibits enhanced response (~ 7.5×102) to 200 ppm of LPG at a relatively low operating temperature (185oC) with a fast response time of 100s. Variation of thickness of Pt clusters in the nanoscale range (2 to 20 nm) is seen to significantly influence the sensor response characteristics

THE INFLUENCE OF SELECTED GASEOUS FUELS ON THE COMBUSTION PROCESS IN THE SI ENGINE

Summary. This paper presents the results of SI engine tests, carried out for different gaseous fuels. The analysis carried out made it possible to define the correlation between fuel composition and engine operating parameters. The tests covered various gaseous mixtures: methane with hydrogen from 5% to 50% by volume and LPG with DME from 5% to 26% by mass. The first group, considered as low-carbon-content fuels can be characterized by low CO2 emissions. Flammability of hydrogen added in those

SELECTED ASPECTS OF THE USE OF GASEOUS FUELS BLENDS TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCY AND EMISSION OF SI ENGINE

biofuels, LPG, or compressed natural gas (CNG), and the development of electric drives. An attractive option in counteracting the effects of the emission of internal combustion engines is alternative gas fuels, including biogas, natural gas, dimethyl ether (DME), hydrogen (H2), and mixtures of them. This article focuses on mixtures that are easy to obtain: natural gas and hydrogen (HCNG) and petroleum gases with dimethyl ether (LPG and DME). Their impact on engine performance, combustion

Effect of TiO2 nano-overlays deposited with atomic layer deposition on refractive index sensitivity of long-period gratings

This paper we discusses an effect of coating longperiod gratings (LPGs) with a thin titanium dioxide (TiO2) overlays on refractive index (RI) sensitivity of the LPG. The overlays have been obtained using atomic layer deposition (ALD) method. The method allows for deposition well-controlled in thickness, well defined in optical properties, high-RI and very conformal thin films as required for optical fiber sensors. For the investigated LPGs we obtained sensitivity of 3490 to 6471 nm per RI unit

NANOSTRUCTURED Fe2O3 THICK FILM AS AN ETHANOL SENSOR

Thick films of AR Grade nano Fe2O3 material with n-type semiconducting properties were prepared and tested for their gas sensing performances. Thick films of the materials were prepared by screen printing technique. The gas sensing performance was studied using static gas sensing system. The material was tested for various gases such as CO, CO2, NH3, Cl2, H2, LPG, ethanol and H2S. The nano Fe2O3 film showed maximum sensitivity to ethanol gas at 350 oC temperature at 250 ppm concentration with

SYNTHESIS OF NANOSTRUCTURED ZrO2 FOR GAS SENSING APPLICATION

18 nm and 20 nm, respectively. Gas sensing properties of their thick films, which were fabricated by screen-printing to various gases (O2, NO2, C2H5OH, CO, CO2, NH3, LPG, H2S and H2) were tested in ambient air. The ZrO2 thick films showed a high response and selectivity to H2S gas. The effect of operating temperature, gas concentration on the sensing characteristics of these films towards H2S was discussed..

SYNTHESIS OF SrTiO3 NANOPOWDER BY SOL-GEL- HYDROTHEMAL METHOD FOR GAS SENSING APPLICATION

. The transmission electron microscopic investigations have shown that the particle size of the as-prepared powder has a mean size of 34 nm. Then highly sensitive and selective sensors to H2S based on glass substrate were fabricated successfully by screen-printing technique. Sensitivity, selectivity, response time, and recovery time of the sensors were systematically investigated as a function of operating temperature, using H2S, CO, CO2, H2, Cl2, LPG, C2H5OH, O2, NH3 and NO2 as test gases. The

Pure and Cupricated BaSnO3 thick film resistor: Synthesis, Characterization and studies on its gas sensing performance

In this work we report the synthesis, microstructure, electric properties and sensing performance of BaSnO3 (BS) powder, it was prepared by mechano-chemical method. As prepared powder is calcinated at temperatures 1100 oC, and 1300 oC tested for crystallization. Thick films were prepared using simple screen-printing technology. Structural and electrical analyses were performed and the results have been correlated. The material was tested for various gases such as CO, CO2, NH3, Cl2, H2, LPG
