Summary. The article discusses the possibility of the application of the NFC technology as a system of selling tickets in passenger rail transport. The NFC (Near Field Communication) technology is a wireless and contactless technology of transmission of radio data over short distances (max. 5 cm). This technology is very similar to the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. It is assumed that this technology will spread rapidly and that already in 2015 around 85% of the payments in

The railway transport of goods was in past the most used type of transport. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the performance of this mode of transport was reduced. At present, international trade is expanding in the direction of Asia–Europe. For economic and, above all, ecological reasons, it is appropriate to move the transport operations back to rail transport. The article focuses on progressive systems of railway transport of freight in the East–West direction, namely the use of the

The article discusses the issue of effective distribution of work on formation of train network between the stations of industrial and mainline rail transport. The analysis is worked out of difficulties in the interaction of technological systems of railway transport of common and uncommon use and risks of the transport stream delays. The strategy for sorting of wagons and a complex of interconnected mathematical models is developed. The proposed solution method is based on step-by-step

Over the recent years, an increase in the demand for passenger and freight rail transport services has been observed. This is mainly owing to the policy objectives related to the use eco-friendly means of transport and the investment causing the quality of rail services to grow. Along with the growing demand for rail transport, a problem of railway capacity utilisation has emerged. Although the implementation of the new Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system increases the safety level, but

studies have explored the factors, that push actors to find competitive such a system with respect to the road, and modelling framework for forecasting the relative demand. Therefore, paper reviews the current literature, investigates the factors involved in choosing such a mode, and finally, recalls a recent modelling framework and hence proposes some advancements that allow to point out the rail transport alternative.

interaction of the transportation the peoples with the transport system. The paper is focussed on the quality evaluation of performance in regional passenger rail transport in relation to other modes of public transport. Hereby it is necessary to research the perception of quality services as well its value for the client (passenger) as well to on scientific approach. In this point of the technological process of transport, the main bearer of the quality of transport services are the vehicles and the

This research analyses the competitive advantages of road and rail transport through the example of Ukraine transportation market. Spheres of efficient usage of rail and road transport while transporting perishable goods have been studied. The key factors influencing the mode choice, as well as the kinds of cargo that depend on the mode choice have been determined with the help of revealed preference data. A mathematical model of mode choice has been offered. The criterion of the effectiveness
