EVALUATION OF ECOLOGICAL CONCRETE USING MULTI-CRITERIA ECOLOGICAL INDEX AND PERFORMANCE INDEX APPROACH

, 27, 28]. Most assessment methods only take into account the environmental impact, but not the engineering performance of the concrete being evaluated. The proposed method is supposed to be much simpler to apply than LCA analyzes, but at the same time it can take into account both the impact on the environment and engineering performance based on two equivalent criteria encompassed in the Ecological Index (EI) and Performance Index (PI), as explained below. The eco-friendliness of the concrete can

ON MEASURING POLARIZATION FOR ORDINAL DATA: AN APPROACH BASED ON THE DECOMPOSITION OF THE LETI INDEX

This paper deals with the measurement of polarization for ordinal data. Polarization in the distribution of an ordinal variable is measured by using the decomposition of the Leti heterogeneity index. The ratio of the between-group component of the index to the within-group component is used to measure the degree of polarization for an ordinal variable. This polarization measure does not require imposing cardinality on ordered categories to quantify the degree of polarization in the distribution

Anti-hrB (-RH31) and anti-HrB (-RH34) were found nearly 40 years ago in the serum of a South African woman. The anti-hrB was revealed after adsorption with DcE/DcE red blood cells (RBCs). Numerous anti-hrB, in the absence of anti-HrB, have since been identified. We obtained a sample of blood from this index case (Bastiaan) and report the molecular basis of her D+C–E–c+e+/–, V–VS+Hr+hrS+hrB–HrB– phenotype as well as results of testing her RBCs using currently

Originally these techniques are used in natural catchments, although they show potential for testing in urban catchments, similar to that described in this work. For example, a topographic wetness index (TWI) (Beven and Kirkby, 1979) has been used successfully to assess the stability of a rail line corridor in the United Kingdom based on the soil moisture distribution (Hardy, 2010). For any assessment with terrain indices, accurate elevation data is

RESIDENCY TESTING. ESTIMATING THE TRUE POPULATION SIZE OF ESTONIA

The number of residents or population size is important for all countries. Nowadays in many countries a series of registers have been created, which can be used for assessing the population size. The residency index is a tool created for estimating the under- and over-coverage of population census and calculation of proper population size. For this aim the concept of a sign of life – a binary variable depending on register i, person j and year k has been introduced showing if the person was

IgG Avidity: an Important Serologic Marker for the Diagnosis of Tick-Borne Encephalitis Virus Infection

A total of 52 serum samples from patients with symptoms suggestive of tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) infection and positive IgM and/or IgG antibodies were tested for IgG avidity. Acute/recent TBEV infection was confirmed by low/borderline avidity index (AI) in 94.8% IgM positive/IgG positive samples, while in 5.2% high AI was found indicating persisting IgM antibodies. Majority of IgM negative/IgG positive samples (78.6%) showed high AI consistent with past TBEV infection. However, in

Effects of Cover Crops on Pratylenchus penetrans and the Nematode Community in Carrot Production

; radish compared to other cover crops or fallow control during cover crop growth and midseason carrot production. At both sites, there were few short-term impacts of cover cropping on soil ecology based on the nematode community. At Site 1, only at carrot harvest, radish-oats mixture and ‘Dwarf Essex’ rape alone enriched the soil food web based on the enrichment index (P ≤ 0.05) while rape and radish increased structure index values. At Site 2, bacterivore abundance

Training Data Compression Algorithms and Reliability in Large Wireless Sensor Networks

the reading from sensors is a severe drain in terms of network resources and energy consumption. In this paper we separate the task of comparative global analysis to a central coordinator and use a reference PMax which is a normalized probability of individual source which reflects the current lifetime reliability of the sensors calculated at the cluster heads which then is compared with the current global reliability index based on all the PMax of cluster heads. As this implementation does not

FEATURES OF SLEEP APNEA RECOGNITION AND ANALYSIS

Sleep apnea is a growing sleep disorder issue and estimate to affect 7% of the adult population in Malaysia. In this study, the electrical activity of the brain is studied using Electroencephalogram (EEG). The data obtained was then decomposed using three methods; Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD), Bivariate EMD and finally Ensemble EMD. The Index of Orthogonatility (IO) was obtained which shows EMD performed the most poorly, EEMD the best and Bivariate in between. The performance of EMD
